The left wing is the same as the right wing with the exception of the landing light. Here is the first piece of the landing light assembly. Nutplates are used to accept the screws that will hold the bulb assembly.
The next part is to cut the opening in the leading edge. This was really pretty easy and there are a few ways to go about it. I just used a large step bit to drill 1" holes in the four corners of the cutout. I then used a hand nibbler to cut straight lines without deforming the skin.
Final cuts were done slowly with a standard tin snip and all edges filed and sanded. The corners were finished by using a 1" sanding barrel on a variable speed drill. The results are perfect!!
Very carefull measuring was required to properly locate the holes to drill through the skin for the assembly and riblet. All drilled here and ready to rivet.
My kit came with the standard sheet of lexan and not the preformed one. This worked fine but was a little tricky to get a good fit flush with the skin. It's also hard to install without scratching the lens. Making sure the edges of the cutout are smooth will prevent most scratches. Here you see the final result.
A good sense of accomplishment when the second wing is complete. Two 12' wings now set asside and work on the fuselage begins!!
